Christmas Lookbook : Outfit 1

Thankful it's another Christmas season and if you're anything like me, you've been going from stores to online catalogues in search of the perfect christmas & New year outfits. Well, if you haven't decided on an outfit yet, no need to panic, I will be having a look-book to help. This is the first in the lookbook.

You can't go wrong with gold and sequins. I feel like unless you're going for a Gatsby themed party, it can't be anymore party appropriate. This season, most stores have at least one of those type of dresses, or tops and even skirts. All roads lead to River Island, they have the best sequin dresses. My dress above was a last year's fit paired with a long skirt to give that elegant feel.
Dorothy Perkins has really nice and affordable ones as-well. For glittering & sequin skirts, you can't go wrong with topshop.

And i would advise that with the sequin outfits, please and please try to keep the accessories as simple as possible. There is always a difference between looking glamorous and comical lol.

All white again?

Forgive me in advance for the quality.

But who's tired of the all white outfits? definently not me. Arguably, it's out of trend, but it undoubtedly stays defining class. I'd say when in doubt, wear all white.

The Renaissance Hotel - Manchester

Hey guys,
Hope you are all well? I've missed you and blogging in general.
It's possible that you might have noticed how i shied away from posting in the 'food and lifestyle' column on the blog. Well with little concerns now about my initial reservations, i've decided to make my second posting. The reason being that over the weekend my friend wanted a decent evening for her 20th and wanted me to recommend a restaurant. (I love how they trust my opinion on fashion, food, and lifestyle amongst other things lol)

And although i've been to London severally, i found that i still couldn't recommend a top notch restaurant. I decided to search for blogs who had reviews or something of the sort, and i surprisingly found that very little blogs offered anything useful.
With that in mind, i've made up my mind to review hotels, restaurant and all things lifestyle that God would give me the grace to experience. From the really casual dine-in's to top notch restaurants, i offer to be the 'scape goat'. I will try all of them to give you good reviews.
Let the exciting journey begin!! :)

Interview: DRB LASGIDI

I've said this before, and for the sake of the people coming on my blog for the first time, i should say it again, I love getting inspired. I love young people moving beyond their comfort zone, breaking boundaries and achieving great results in their niche. It not only encourages other young people that very few things are impossible if one is determined but also raises the bar for them. Now you can tell that it was definitely with much pleasure that i embraced the opportunity to interview Boj and Fresh L of DRB last week, after their performance at the "DRB Halloween party" in plymouth.

These artists have taken Nigeria by storm, to many people, they came unannounced & without warning, and since then it's been from one hit single to another. From the very successful Industry Night in Lagos, Nigeria to performances in London, Birmingham, Plymouth, Manchester, etc, not only are we glued to our screens, but they genuinely keep us wanting more.
I'm going to keep this as brief as possible as no one enjoys reading long texts really :) and it's important to note that i interviewed them separately, as i had specific questions for each of them.

Bojonthemicrophone

From your successful mix tape "bojonthemicrphone' to many more collaborations with Lynxx, Lola Rae, SDC, Ajebutter, etc, and shows literally everywhere, with no doubt it's been a wonderful year for you Boj,
What inspired you to go into music?
-I just stumbled into it really, it wasn't my intention, like i didn't deliberately plan it, i just recorded a few songs and people liked it and i just carried on from there.

Let's just say i'm sorry?

I'm sorry, i'm sorry, i'm sorry, is that enough? lol
I've had a lot to do this past weeks, that i've neither had enough time for myself nor my blog. I honestly apologise and i promise to be more consistent (by God's grace)

Half way through my study  time yesterday, i stumbled on this multi-media personality that has seemed to have gotten a lot of attention recently. What i particularly couldn't understand was why there was so much 'hate' or 'dislike' for her. And as i'm particularly inquisitive, and i love to analyse and rationalise situations, I honestly went from 305 belittling & insultive comments to many more interviews & blog articles just so i really understand the problem.

I will share one thing that stood out to me, and it was the need to constantly pray for the grace to constructively criticise situations as opposed to condemning people. I found that what we often fail to realise is that these people are humans too, they have feelings and are capable of making mistakes. And we often find it very easy to be judgemental, condemn, not forgive and bring down other people but find it so easy to pray for God's forgiveness and favour before men. Simply understand this, God is no respecter of persons, he respects principles. The measure of mercy you give is what you get. Finding it easy to sit by gossip blogs insulting and possibly leaking these people's secrets but praying later for up-liftment and promotion don't correlate. When next you ask God for mercy, be sure you're being merciful to others in words & acts and tolerating their shortcomings.

Men's column: Ricardo Felgueiras

Hope you all had a good weekend? considering how much i lamented in my previous post (here) about having to study all week to get my weekend off, it was well worth it! :)

I have exciting news ..there's going to be another column on the blog and it's going to be on men's fashion, style & and generally all things men. I've been researching & reading a lot about men's fashion since the idea was first suggested to me and i intend on making this column as exciting & informative as possible. And as you can already guess, as stable & up to date as the women's.

Whoop!! we're starting off the column with an outfit styled by Ricardo Felgueiras, the founder of TMRK. I like the jacket & i particularly love the way he's styled this outfit. It's well layered and it gives the impression/come off as effortlessly casual although it's obviously smart/formal.

In plain terms, TMRK is a platform based in the South west England to showcase all the up and coming talents in art, fashion & Music. I'm honestly impressed by the progress they've been able to make so far and far more excited for what's to come, especially in the fashion aspect of it.

Inspiration

You're spoilt with choice today :)
My friend spoke to me about writing a weekly article for the blog, which i thought was a really good idea. With the first piece which i find genuinely inspiring & real, i think i have no doubt i made a good decision. Hope you enjoy it as much as i did! :)

I need to heal, need to forgive, need to move on with my life. So for me this is more than a story this is a healing process; a process for all my wounds to heal and for me to finally leave the past in the past. I have been trying to heal for as long as I can remember now, but there have been so many obstacles in my life that have made this process long. I think about what I have been through and my heart cries for love, understanding and peace.

Winter is here!!

It's no news that winter is finally creeping in, we can all sadly feel the biting chills of it.
For many of us, it only means one thing, it's that time to invest in a quality yet fashionable winter coat. Trust me this can be a hassle, and the expeditious trends don't make it better. But as that's almost my job now (to analyse new trends & styles), i can spare you surfing the net all week or spending a hefty chunk of that student loan on buying a bad coat that you might have to wear up until June.

So, below are some of the finest winter coat trends

1) Pink Coat- This has to be my favourite. I'm not a big fan of dull, gloomy coloured winter coats, i mean, isn't the weather gloomy enough?! I'm excited the pink coat is trending, as it's a bold & statement piece yet leaves you looking effortlessly chic. It's the easiest way to pull off that "i'm just naturally stunning and i don't need to try too hard" look.

                Ebay, £100
                                                                                                        Zara £79.99

2)Parkers- They're a must have for every winer season. If you're thinking of investing in a long, trend lasting coat, parkers are the way forward. I doubt they will ever be out of trend especially for students. But i should throw in some caution, if you are not petite enough to look cute in them, i suggest you forget them and look up other winter coverings. I'm not even trying to throw shade at plump girls, as i myself i've restrained from buying them.

I learnt..

Hat: Topshop || Necklace: Zara || Skirt: Zara || Inner top: Topshop ||

As much as i've wanted to put these pictures up since it's sneak peak on my Instagram page, i've refrained from doing so because it kept looking like an outfit for winter. But as it's gotten that cold now, what better excuse can i have to upload them.

And Is anyone else reading this like me, when you really like an accessory you wear it till you wreck it? lol i'm sorry but you're going to be seeing alot of that shoe & hat, as i've seemed to have fallen in love with them.

Also, by now you know that i love sharing some lessons & inspirations with you guys. Yesterday my devotion was partly on the story of Tamar. (If you don't know it, feel free to google 2 Samuel 13 1-14) I was indeed very furious after reading it, because this was the case of an innocent girl being raped by her half brother and she having to live as a desolate woman with her biological brother for the better part of her life. I began to question alot of things after reading it, but why would God allow that? but she didn't even deserve it? etc
It was then an inspiration came to me, God reminded me of two incidents in which i didn't deserve what i got. And it was then he made me realise, life is not a bed of roses for both believers & non-believers. And Jesus never promised for once that it will be, but what he did promise his own was that he wouldn't allow the devil tempt them more than their strength can bear. He promised the strength to overcome and if we trust him long enough, he promised to make EVERYTHING, i.e what we consider our problems, mistakes, pain, challenges etc work together for our good.
Yes, it hurts, but many atimes God requires us to trust him beyond what our feelings allow.

God Inspired.
